The Older Veteran Engagement Team –An Example of the Value of Engaging Older Adults in Research is intended to complement the Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) with Diverse Older Adult module. This module provides a case example of the application of the 5Ts framework for inclusion of older adults in research and an equally illustrative case example of the application of the 5Ms framework in Geriatrics. Finally, this module addresses an extremely important specialty population of older adults: older veterans.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, learners should be able to:
1) Describe successful approaches to establishing, maintaining and maximizing the impact of a stakeholder engagement board comprised of older adults for the purpose of optimizing the benefits of research for this population;
2) Align stakeholder engagement involving older adults with the 5Ts of inclusion of older adults in research and 5Ms of Geriatrics;
3) Situate stakeholder engagement on the continuum of community engagement in research; and,
4) Understand the importance of this work to achieving health equity for populations of older adults.
