Collaboration Across Borders: Creating Coalitions in a Fragmented World
Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute presents “Collaboration Across Borders: Creating Coalitions in a Fragmented World” at its next Translational Science Seminar Series webinar from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.
Lara Bloom, president of The Ehlers-Danlos Society and academic affiliate professor of practice in patient engagement and global collaboration at Penn State College of Medicine, will present. Bloom will share how to build research coalitions with healthcare providers, patients and awareness groups, like The Ehlers-Danlos Society. While using the example of rare disease research, Bloom’s discussion will offer practical lessons learned about uniting around a common goal.
Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute supported work related to Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, a group of rare disorders of connective tissues, through its Bridges to Translation Pilot Grant Program. Rebecca Bascom, M.D., and Jane Schubart, Ph.D., conducted two separate pilot projects concerning the disease.
