Lecture: CTSA Visiting Scholars - The Influence of Hormonal Dysregulation in Autoimmunity

The Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences (NUCATS) Institute is hosting Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) KL2 Scholar, DeAnna Baker Frost MD, PhD on February 2, 2021, 12-1 p.m. CST as a part of the CLIC-CTSA Visiting Scholar Program. Dr. Baker Frost will present on 'The Influence of Hormonal Dysregulation in Autoimmunity.'

Objectives:

• Provide a brief overview of estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone biosynthesis and how they affect the immune system.
• Summarize background studies that describe the relationship between hormonal dysregulation in rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and systemic sclerosis.
• Postulate future research directions surrounding hormone dysregulation and autoimmunity.
