Penn State CTSI BERD Seminar: The Convergence of Factors Impacting Rural Economies and Health in Pennsylvania

Healthcare delivery is becoming an increasingly larger share of the economy in rural Pennsylvania. Hospitals, physician offices, and retail pharmacies represent only one slice of the economic contributions of health care. In coming years, the importance of health care delivery will increase as rural Pennsylvanians continue to age in place and the demand for health care outpaces supply. This presentation will examine the future healthcare delivery trends in rural Pennsylvania and its impact on the rural economy. Also to be discussed are challenges to rural healthcare delivery in the face of demographic and workforce changes.
