Penn State CTSI BERD Seminar: Design and Measurement Considerations for Implementation Science Projects

Penn State CTSI BERD Seminar: Design and Measurement Considerations for Implementation Science Projects

Implementation science seeks to improve the adoption, delivery, and sustainment of evidence-based interventions in healthcare and community settings. There is a wide range study designs now being used to evaluate implementation science projects, including traditional randomized and nonrandomized designs. There are other designs, including hybrid designs that combine effectiveness and implementation research, and rapid cycle implementation evaluations. In addition, to evaluate the impact of implementation projects, separate from the effect (the desired health outcome) of the evidence-based intervention, measures of implementation success are needed. These implementation measures can be evaluated at different levels of influence and from the perspective of both implementers and end-users. This seminar will provide an overview of the most common study designs and measures used in implementation science projects.

Presenter: William Calo Perez, PhD, Assistant Professor of Department of Public Health Sciences
