Storytelling and Diversity: Using Your Story to Explore Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity in Research

CTSIDC3_Vertical

The University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Diversity and Cultural Competency Council, (UF CTSI DC3) has successfully used storytelling to amplify and explore the voices of black researchers and professionals using storytelling. The first event, Black Voices in Research: University of Florida CTSI Provides a Platform for Underrepresented Voices, has been well received and continues to generate new opportunities.

In this workshop, members of DC3 will share the journey of creating the event and the lessons learned which has led to further expansion of the resources they are able to provide. After sharing the lessons, they will use guided prompts to allow attendees to explore their own stories to see how your own story affects how they show up in the world and the research community.

Our story determines how we see, value, and define diversity, equity, and inclusivity which ultimately effects how we design and administer research studies. Please join us in exploring our shared stories to better understand ourselves and ultimately lead to deeper collaborations reflective of an expanded understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusivity
