Utilizing Data Science Resources to Prepare and Package Integrated Datasets
The purpose of the Life Course Visual Toolkit is to increase knowledge about life course research methods and innovative approaches by providing content that is widely available and accessible to researchers across multiple disciplines. This will be accomplished through a platform that allows synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Six Webinars have been designed to advance the process recommendations outlined in, Charting the Life Course: Emerging Opportunities to Advance Scientific Approaches Using Life Course Research, which was recently accepted in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Sciences. The webinars will have three speakers, one giving a broad overview of the subject in a TED-Like talk and two taking a deep dive into the ‘How To’ do this in your own research.
Dr. Denny will give a broad overview of the importance of collecting, harmonizing, and utilizing data from diverse sources for life course research. Dr. Tatonetti will describe data mining techniques for hypothesis generation and give an example of an out of the box collaboration that led to a novel discovery. Dr. Allen will take a deep dive into processes for pooling and harmonizing data and unintended biases that should be considered.
