OCTRI funds three pilot projects for drug discovery

In collaboration with the Technology Transfer and Collaborations & Entrepreneurship offices at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) announced three new funded projects for the 2021 drug discovery track of the Biomedical Innovation Program. This program supports drug discovery platforms and early-stage therapeutic technology projects, including validation of drug targets and development of small molecules, antibodies, vaccines or biologics. Funded projects and awardees for 2021 include:

  • Nabil J. Alkayed, MD, PhD - A novel therapeutic target in subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Mallesh Pandrala, PhD - Development of a pan-BCR-ABL inhibitor for chronic myeloid leukemia with improved safety
  • Sanjay V. Malhotra, PhD - Addressing paclitaxel resistance and disease progression in ovarian cancer with small molecule YBX1 inhibitors
