Appalachian Translational Research Network
The Appalachian Translational Research Network (ATRN) is a 501©3 composed of academic institutions, community organizations, and individuals committed to translational research and training that addresses health disparities and inequities across the Appalachian region. Appalachia is a large, geographically-defined area of the eastern United States that has a history of significant health challenges. The ATRN vision is health equity across Appalachia. The ATRN mission is to reduce risks and improve health outcomes across Appalachia through collaborative community-engaged, translational research.
To accomplish its mission, the ATRN fosters collaborations between investigators and trainees from member institutions and the Appalachian community to catalyze translational research. The ATRN provides research, educational and networking opportunities including collaborative studies, inter-institutional grants, an annual ATRN Health Summit, and a bi-annual newsletter.
