Data Scientist - Genomic Driven Precision Medicine
As part of the Clinical and Health Informatics Institute (CHI2), the Data Scientist will have the opportunity to work on genomic driven precision medicine efforts at SMPH. The incumbent will use biomedical informatics to develop and implement computational tools for clinical trial recruitment, visualization of omics data, comparative effectiveness research, data-driven patient risk stratification and clinical decision support for improving healthcare, better understanding of disease mechanisms, precision medicine, and enabling reproducible research. The Data Scientist will model clinical and research data problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities from data using algorithmic, data mining, and visualization techniques.
-Working knowledge of high-performance and cloud computing environments.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to convey ideas effectively in speech and in writing.
-Advanced Degree. Master's in Computational Biology, Data Science, Biostatistics, Informatics, or related quantitative/engineering fields.
-Minimum of two years' experience in analyzing multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics etc.) for biomedical research.
-Minimum of two years' experience with databases and programming languages such as SQL, NoSQL, ETL tools, Python, R, or Unix.
-Proven experience in integrating and analyzing next gen sequencing datasets.
-Proven experience in developing genomic data pipelines.
-Experience with public genomic datasets.
-Experience with software development practices including testing, documentation and version control.
-Minimum of five years experience in a research or academic environment applying advanced computational and analytical approaches to solving biomedical problems.
-Proven experience in machine learning.
-Experience working in an academic/scientific research environment.
-Experience with EHR/clinical data.
