Working in the Clinical & Health Informatics Institute (CHI2) of UW Madison's Institute of Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) and UW-Health's Enterprise Analytics (EA), the successful candidate will have a solid work ethic and bring an enthusiastic and professional attitude to the workplace. This position serves as the interface between faculty conducting clinical research projects and the rapidly evolving electronic health data warehouse in EA. A key activity of this position will be to work with both clinical researchers and other CHI2 staff to help to develop queries that translate research objectives into retrievable datasets from the enterprise data warehouse.

50% Data Querying, Extracting, and Formatting
-Support clinical studies by writing code to query, extract, and format data from multiple sources.
-Collaborate with other members of the team to keep them abreast of query progress and prioritization.
-Prepare, validate and implement scripts for data extraction, format data as appropriate for the project, and summarize results and problems encountered.
-Participate in meetings with other members of the School of Medicine and Public Health and EA.
45% EHR Data Coordination for the All of Us Research Program
-Responsible for the operations of the data processes to update and extract data from the Electronic Health Record system (Epic) and export to AoU Data Research Center at Vanderbilt quarterly.
-Assist with applications in the Epic MyChart system to support the recruitment and consenting activities (e-consent), as well as future data collection directly entered by participants.
-Attend relevant All of Us meetings.
5% Other Duties
-Other activities including adhering to all University, ICTR, CHI2, EA, and Departmental policies and procedures and completing mandatory training modules.
-Demonstrated SQL coding skills.
-Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
-Demonstrated SQL coding skills with emphasis on writing complex queries.
-2 years relevant experience with electronic health record systems or as a data analyst.
-3 or more years of relevant experience with electronic health record systems and/or as a data analyst.
-Experience with Epic Clarity or Caboodle databases.
-Experience with Unix.
-Technical project lead experience.
-Knowledge of medical terminology or ontology.
-Experience reviewing other team member's technical work and providing constructive feedback.
-Experience writing Python scripts.
-Knowledge of HIPAA and other regulations governing PHI.
Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
A minimum of 7 years' experience is required for appointment at the senior level.
