Follow-Up Evaluation: Lifespan and Life Course Research: Integrating Strategies Un-Meeting

Purpose

To elicit participant follow up feedback on the 2020 Lifespan and Life Course Research: Integrating Strategies Un-Meeting.

Executive Summary

On Monday, March 2, 2020, an Un-Meeting addressing the topics of Lifespan and Life Course Research: Integrating Strategies was held in Chicago, Illinois. A survey was sent to all meeting attendees following the Un-Meeting. CLIC conducted post-event evaluations to explore whether meeting goals were achieved, both immediately following the Un-Meeting (as previously reported) and six months after the Un-Meeting concluded.

This report details the evaluation survey disseminated on September 14, 2020, six months after the Un-Meeting was held. Questions in the six-month evaluation inquired about actions pursued as a result of the Un-Meeting, other benefits and outcomes that resulted from attending the Un-Meeting, and whether attending the Un-Meeting continued to impact the work of the attendees.

An initial email and two reminder emails, all including the link to the follow-up evaluation survey, were sent to attendees after the six-month anniversary of the Un-Meeting. Overall, a total of 12 responses were received from 105 initial attendees, for an 11.4% response rate for the six-month follow-up. The majority of respondents (N=10, 83.3%) indicated they “Agreed” or “Strongly Agreed” that the Un-Meeting continued to impact their work.

The survey contained several open-ended questions, and attendees were asked to discuss any valuable outcomes or benefits that had directly resulted from the Un-Meeting. Several respondents indicated that as a result of the Un-Meeting, they have taken steps to pursue opportunities including collaborating on grant proposals or publications, developing pilot programs, participating in synergy papers, and implementing new research ideas. Attendee responses also highlighted that this Un-Meeting was beneficial to them, particularly in regards to networking/connection building and increased knowledge/understanding of lifespan and life course research.
