To elicit hub feedback to determine which hubs will be participating or declining participation in the MAR
Metric Expanded Pilot.
The Common Metrics Initiative (CMI) conducted an assessment for the Median Accrual Ratio (MAR) Metric Expanded Pilot to determine which hubs planned to participate in the Expanded Pilot. The MAR Expanded Pilot aims to understand the types of Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) and other data collection systems hubs are using. This Expanded Pilot will gather information on operations, processes, and needed resources relative to the MAR metric.
The Median Accrual Ratio Metric Hub Participation Survey was sent on March 3, 2020 via email, to the principal investigators, evaluators and administrators at each hub throughout the consortium. Those receiving the survey were instructed to submit one survey per hub. The survey was closed on March 31, 2020.
A total of 57 responses were received from 55 unique hubs across 66 different hubs. identical responses that were submitted more than once for a hub were deleted to reflect each hub’s use of CTMS and expected participation in the MAR Expanded Pilot. This report includes the quantitative and qualitative results in their entirety.
Key Considerations:
Based on the survey responses, the following are common themes as to why certain hubs do not plan on participating in the Expanded Pilot:
• In the process of a transition
• Concerns of data collection feasibility
• Readjustment of priorities due to COVID-19
• Institution does not have a CTMS
Additionally, other hubs are seeking to implement a CTMS and plan on collecting data to eventually participate in the Expanded Pilot.
The majority of survey respondents (41, 74.5%) indicated that they use a CTMS. Of those 43 respondents, 40 of them have already entered data in their CTMS, with 22 (53.7%) using OnCore. Additionally, those who specified that they do not use a CTMS (14), nine (64.3%) of them indicated that their hub does not use a data collection system.
