About Dr. Jones's Research:
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a difficult to treat cancer that is associated with death in nearly 4 out of 10 children who are diagnosed with this disease. There are multiple factors that contribute to poor outcomes in these patients, however, researchers don't fully understand all of them. Dr. Jones's goal is to develop a greater understanding of the resistance associated with a specific type of AML that is particularly difficult to treat. She hopes to gain clarity about this type of disease to find more specific therapies to target those resistance mechanisms in the cancer cells.
