Discussion Forums are similar to predecessor unstructured group formats, think Key Function Committees. They were established to allow self aggregating teams to gather for in-depth discussion of translational science topics. Each forum sets its own goals and timelines; one of those potential goals could be to develop plans for projects that fill identified gaps and/or further the program objectives through a CTSA Program Working Group proposal. Other forums may decide to collaborate on an RFI response, or comparison of platforms, best practices etc.
To facilitate the formation and maintenance of these forums, NCATS is giving each one use of its secure federated cloud environment and Google toolbox hosted on the NCATS G-Suite.
