Associate Director for Library Operations, National Library of Medicine

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks applications from exceptional candidates for the exciting and challenging position of Associate Director for Library Operations (ADLO), National Library of Medicine (NLM), a career federal position in the Senior Executive Service. This position reports to the Director, NLM and serves as a member of NLM’s senior leadership team, participating in the formulation of overall policies supporting the strategic plan of NLM, NIH, and HHS. In addition, the incumbent is directly responsible for planning, evaluating, implementing, and coordinating the program activities of Library Operations with the National Center for Biotechnology Information, Office of Computer and Communications Systems, and the Intramural Research Program, as well as with national major research libraries, national networks, and information centers in the US and abroad.
Library Operations uses the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee as a scientific advisory group appointed to review, recommend, and ensure the continued quality and integrity of journals to be indexed by NLM. To support its mission, the NLM has an FY20 annual budget of approximately $457 million and employs approximately 450 FTE and non-FTE scientists, other professionals, support staff, and contractors.

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary of $127,914 - $192,300 with full federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement, and savings plan (401k equivalent).
