Stanford KL2 Program Manager
The Stanford School of Medicine Research Office is seeking a KL2 Program Manager (Academic Program Professional 2) to oversee and administer the Stanford Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA)’s KL2 Mentored Career Development Program. Leveraging Stanford’s combined strengths in fundamental discovery and translational research, the Stanford CTSA is enhancing and strengthening Stanford’s clinical and translational research enterprise with the goal of improving human health locally and globally. Through funding from the National Institutes of Health CTSA Program, Stanford is actively engaged in a network of more than 50 medical research institutions (CTSA Program hubs) across the nation working together to improve the translational research landscape. The KL2 Program Manager will work under the general direction of faculty and staff leadership to implement and administer the vision, strategy and goals of the KL2 Mentored Career Development Program.

- Administer the educational goals, mission and programming of the Stanford CTSA KL2 Program by providing high-quality and specialized support of junior faculty career development and translational workforce development initiatives.
- Prepare and release the KL2 request for proposals; accept applications and review for completeness; secure reviewers and coordinate reviews; compile scores; prepare notice of award letters; and work closely with communications staff to market program.
- Coordinate weekly KL2 seminars for scholars that offer career development guidance and NIH writing/training.
- Ensure KL2 compliance with NIH – ORCID requirements, compliance with the NIH public access policy, and other reporting requirements.
- Monitor KL2 scholars progress; compile data for evaluation and progress reports; and review trends to make program improvement recommendations.
- Supervise relevant portions of the job that may include overseeing administrative staff responsible for data entry into eRA Commons.
- Write and/or edit complex content for proposals, research grants, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities.
- Contribute to and inform on strategic program/entity planning and related funding and financial sustainability.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Knowledge of scientific writing; clearly, accurately, and engagingly conveying complex scientific, clinical and translational research in long and short form for a variety of audiences.
- Knowledge of scientific and research concepts, with thorough understanding of federal, state, and University regulations governing protection of human research subjects in the conduct of the research; sponsors policies on research dissemination; and University and sponsor policies for licensed and copyrighted discoveries and publications.
- Ability to identify key learning needs, prepare content and coordinate workshops, seminars and e-learning opportunities.
- Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
Master’s degree preferred, and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Experience is preferred in: development and implementation of new educational programs; experience in knowledge in management of NIH training grants.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor’s degree required in health, science, research communication or related discipline or combination of relevant experience, education, and training.
